Wendy L. LaRocca

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the passing of Wendy Louise LaRocca (Pfundtner), who entered into the presence of her Savior on July 22, 2026, at the age of 67. Surrounded by the love of her family, Wendy completed her earthly journey after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, diagnosed in September 2024. Throughout every challenge, she remained steadfast in her faith, clinging to God's promises with remarkable strength, grace, and hope. Her unwavering trust in Jesus became an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Dorothy Pfundtner; her brother, Jerry Pfundtner; her father-in-law, Louis LaRocca Sr.; and her son-in-law, Bryce Johnson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, James LaRocca; her mother-in-law, Joyce LaRocca; her children, Valerie Johnson, Lindsay (Shawn) Parslow, Natalie LaRocca, and Samantha (Alphonse A.) Sasso; her cherished grandchildren, Chelsey and Cody Passino, Hope, AJ, Lucio and Silas Sasso, and Zane and Renzia Parslow; her sister, Vicki (Larry) DeWolf; her brothers, Allen (Debbie) Pfundtner and Jeffrey Pfundtner; her sister-in-law, Patricia Pfundtner; her brother-in-law, Louis (Diane) LaRocca Jr.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear and lifelong friends who meant the world to her.

Wendy was a 1977 graduate of Greece Olympia High School. She showed her love to her family through her extraordinary baking and cooking. One of her other passions in life beyond her family was volunteering every Sunday with the four-year-olds at First Bible Baptist Church, which she enjoyed for 40+ years.

Wendy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, daughter, and treasured friend. Together, she and James built a life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love. Her greatest joy was raising her four beautiful daughters and watching her family grow through each new generation. Nothing brought Wendy more happiness than time spent with her children and 8 grandchildren. She delighted in each of them and treasured every moment spent creating memories, offering encouragement, sharing laughter, celebrating life's milestones, and showering them with love. The legacy she leaves behind lives on in the hearts of her family, who were the center of her world.

Wendy was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ who lived out her faith every day. She did not simply speak of God's love; she demonstrated it through her actions, generosity, compassion, and care for others. Whether offering a listening ear, sharing words of encouragement, lending a helping hand, or praying faithfully for those around her, Wendy reflected Christ's love in countless ways. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, and her example will continue to inspire all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff of Aurora House and Monroe Community Hospital who cared for Wendy in her final months. We are extremely grateful for Wendy’s amazing medical team at University of Rochester Medicine as well as Wilmot Cancer Center and the countless friends and family who showed their love to Wendy and her family through prayer, social visits, and by offering meals and rides.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we are profoundly grateful for the gift of Wendy's life. We will remember her warm smile, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the extraordinary love she poured into her family and friends. Her legacy of grace, courage, and devotion will live on in the countless lives she touched. Wendy's family takes comfort in knowing that she is now healed, restored, whole, and at peace in the loving presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. ❤️

Please join Wendy’s family at her celebration of life followed by calling hours, which will be held at First Bible Baptist Church (990 Manitou Rd) on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. A private burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Bible Baptist Church- Children’s Ministry or Glioblastoma Research Organization to support research and families affected by glioblastoma.
