On September 22, 1942, Willie James Searles Jr. was born in Palmetto, Florida to Will and Daisy Searles. After graduating from high school (1963-1971), Willie James Searles Jr. enlisted into the United States Army with the signature of his mother where he served 8 years. Willie was stationed in Fort Lee Virginia and completed his basic training and became a PT instructor. Many of his accomplishments allowed him to earn his stripes rapidly becoming Staff Sergeant E6 Combat Engineer. His military orders included Vietnam, Denmark, Germany, South Korea, and Japan. Willie was also fluent in each of these countries' languages as he took the time to learn each one on his own to communicate effectively.
After leaving the Army Willie James Searles Jr, moved to Rochester, New York. He was employed by Kodak. He later joined his brothers as they formed JIMB’s Trucking Company operating in Rochester, New York for many years. Later, he started his own business
Asante Painting and Cleaning under the umbrella of Home Properties before retiring.
On April 10,1976, Willie married Sarah Catherine Cooper. They were married for 49 years. Willie accepted Christ Jesus as his savior at an early age. He became an active member of the Aenon Baptist Church for 30+years where he sang in the Mass Choir, Male Chorus, and the Usher Board. He later became a member of Faith Church Rochester, New York..
Family values were important to Willie. He loved God, wife, family, kindness, generosity and support. Willie James Searles Jr, is survived by his wife, Sarah Searles. Son, Patrick O. Searles. Sister Madese Searles. Preceded in death by his son Kumar Searles (Anthony Marcus) and siblings Catherine Johnson, Juanita Hamilton, Dorothy Parrimon, Lu Neary Breedlove, Cordelia T Harris, Johnnie Searles, Joe Searles, Lester Searles and Vernon Searles. He will be remembered and cherished by his 4 grand daughters and 2 great grandsons along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to extended friends and family.
Jesus met Willie James Searles Jr, held his hand as he prepared to receive him. Eased his pain and discomfort while the Holy Spirit kept him comfortable as he traveled home. May God grant each and everyone of you strength and comfort during these times.
