Yves "Papa" Zamort

Yves Zamort, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on March 26, 2025. Born on April 7, 1951, in Haiti, Yves led a fulfilling life characterized by love, kindness, and and commitment to his family.

For 36 wonderful years, Yves shared a profound partnership with Regina Wilson, the love of his life. Their relationship was a testament to devotion and companionship, leaving behind a legacy of shared memories and deep affection. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family that includes: Deidre Simmons-Zamort, her partner "A.Z." Marvin Iverson, Jermel Rivera-Zamort, and his wife Natipha Rivera and daughter Yasmine Zamort.

As a grandfather, Yves was equally cherished by his grandchildren: Daijhan Iverson, Jermel Rivera Jr., Malichai Rivera, Azyanna Simmons, Ar'mel Rivera, and Sevyn Rivera. Each grandchild brought joy to his life, and he treasured the special moments spent with them, nurturing their dreams and aspirations.

Yves also embraced his roles as a godfather to Bo, Mya, Tori, and Amani, extending his love and mentorship to these young individuals, instilling in them the values of resilience and compassion. He had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone around him, bringing people together like an unbreakable bond of family.

His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, including the extended Zamort family, encompassing numerous nieces and nephews who carry on his spirit and values.

The family will hold a visitation to honor Yves Zamort on April 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Eastside, located at 6 Empire Blvd., Rochester, NY 14609. This gathering will serve as a space for family and friends to share their grief, celebrate his life, and remember the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Yves Zamort will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
