Zena B. Chambers, a beloved counselor and a vibrant soul, passed away on September 26, 2025, in Rochester. Born on May 5, 1964, in Griffin, Georgia, Zena's journey through life was defined by her unwavering commitment to family, community, and the courageous fight against HIV, AIDS.

Throughout her career as a counselor for Trillium Health, Zena dedicated herself wholeheartedly to empowering those in need. Guided by her compassionate spirit, she worked tirelessly for the well-being of individuals affected by HIV, AIDS, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her not only for her professional dedication but also for her warmth and kindness that radiated in every encounter.

Zena's greatest pride stemmed from her role as a mother and grandmother. She was a nurturing figure who embraced her sons, Donald (Lanora) Chambers and Curtis Williams III, and daughter, Zonetta (Jayson) Young, with boundless love, supporting them in every endeavor. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she cherished the unique bond she formed with each of them, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and love.

In addition to her family, Zena had a passion for cooking, especially soul food, with a fondness for everything spicy. And the Buffalo Bills. Her kitchen was a gathering place, where family and friends would come together to enjoy delicious meals and share stories, strengthening the bonds that made their family so special.

Zena is survived by her loving mother, Barbara Tyson Chambers, as well as her sisters, Bennette Burt, Belinda (Christopher) Northington, and Chandra (Elvie) Glover. brothers Marcus (Deeanna) Chambers, Darien (Tahesha) Chambers, Marlon (Eileen) Chambers. These family ties were a source of strength and joy throughout her life, and she valued the close-knit connections that she fostered among her loved ones.

Zena was preceded in death by her father, Willie Chambers; brother, Gardner Chambers; and sister-in-law, Noshin Chambers. Their memories remained with her as she honored their legacy in the way she lived her life—guided by love, compassion, and a relentless dedication to serving others.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, from 10AM to 11AM, and service from 11AM to 12:45PM, at First Genesis Baptist Church, 292 Hudson Ave. A repass will follow at 3:30PM at Millennium Lodge, Greece Canal Park.

As we remember Zena B. Chambers, we celebrate a life filled with purpose, love, and an enduring spirit that will continue to inspire all who were touched by her incredible journey.
